Demulsifier and Emulsion Breaker Program Optimization
Demulsifier is dosed by habit and adjusted by complaint. Prodesy tracks demulsifier rate against BS&W, throughput and temperature per facility so dosing follows the process, and cost per barrel treated is known.

Dosing that follows the process
Emulsion behaviour changes with throughput, temperature, water cut and the wells on production that day. A demulsifier rate set at the last bottle test is wrong most of the time in one direction or the other. Prodesy trends the rate against BS&W at the sales point and the process variables that drive it, so the operator can see when the rate is padded and when it is short.
What Prodesy tracks
- Demulsifier and emulsion breaker rate vs target per facility or well
- BS&W and water-in-oil results from the lab workflow
- Throughput and temperature from telemetry or field reads
- Bottle test results as a comparison point, not the only point
- Cost per barrel treated

Facility-level economics
Demulsifier is often the highest-volume product at a battery. A rate right-sized to throughput can be a material saving without any risk to the sales spec, because the spec is measured daily. Combine with the paraffin program where wax contributes to emulsion stability.
Frequently asked questions
Does Prodesy replace bottle testing?
No. Bottle tests are logged as a data point; Prodesy adds the continuous process data that bottle tests cannot.
Can it handle multiple facilities with different products?
Yes. Each facility has its own targets, products and process variables.
Is it useful for a vendor?
Yes. Vendors use the BS&W-vs-rate trend to demonstrate that a product change or rate reduction held spec.
